    At 7 cm depth: 9 bags of 80L or 14 bags of 50L. At 5 cm: 7 bags of 80L. At 10 cm: 13 bags of 80L. Always round up - partial bags are not sold.
    Does bark mulch make soil acidic?
    Pine bark is slightly acidic (pH 5-6). Over several years it can lower soil pH by 0.3-0.5 points. Good for acid-loving plants (blueberries, azaleas, rhododendrons). For neutral-pH plants, add 50-100 g of garden lime per m2 annually to compensate.
    When is the best time to mulch?
    Spring (April-May) after weeding and before summer heat, or autumn (October) as winter insulation. Avoid mulching in midsummer heat (bark dries out and blows away) or in frozen ground.
    How often should I replace mulch?
    Pine bark: every 2-3 years. Wood chips: every 1-2 years. Decorative coloured mulch: every 1-2 years (colour fades). You can top up with 2-3 cm instead of full replacement if the existing layer is still in place.
    Can I mulch a lawn?
    Not with bark. Bark blocks grass growth. For lawns, use a mulching mower that chops clippings into fine pieces and returns them to the turf. Or spread a thin 1-2 cm layer of compost as a top dressing in spring.
    Pine bark vs wood chips - which is better?
    Pine bark lasts longer (2-3 years vs 1-2), looks neater and suppresses weeds better. Wood chips are cheaper, decompose faster (adding organic matter to soil), and work well on paths where appearance matters less. For ornamental beds: bark. For utility areas: chips.
