35-Liter Fuel Tank - How Many Kilometers Can You Drive?
Fill the tank, reset the trip meter, drive. This calculator turns tank capacity and fuel consumption into a concrete number - how many kilometers before the next stop.
A 35-liter fuel tank sounds like a simple number - until you need to know whether it will get you to the next gas station 300 km away. The answer depends entirely on your real-world fuel consumption. At 6 L/100km a 35-liter tank gives you a very different range than at 10 L/100km. Enter your consumption figure below and see exactly how far that 35-liter tank will take you - at full, half and quarter capacity.

Fill the tank, reset the trip meter, read the number
Every driver has done the mental math: tank says half full, consumption is around 7 liters, how far can I actually go? This calculator gives you that answer without guesswork. Enter the tank size in liters and the average fuel consumption in L/100km - the result shows the full-tank range in kilometers and miles, plus the same figure for a half tank and a quarter tank. You also get a vehicle classification so you can quickly sense-check whether the numbers look right for your type of car.
The formula is straightforward: divide tank capacity by consumption rate, multiply by 100. A 60-liter tank with 8 L/100km gives 750 km. Real-world range is always a bit less because you rarely start from a truly full tank and you should not run to empty - the calculator shows theoretical maximum range, which is the right starting point for trip planning.
How to use the calculator
-
1
Enter tank capacity (liters) - find this in your owner manual, on the fuel filler cap, or look it up by model. Compact cars: 40-55 L. SUVs: 60-80 L. Trucks: 100-300 L. Motorcycles: 12-20 L.
-
2
Enter average fuel consumption (L/100km) - read it from the trip computer (long-term average, not instant). If you do not have a trip computer, divide liters added at the last fill-up by the distance driven since the previous fill-up, then multiply by 100.
-
3
Read the results - the calculator returns range at full tank, half tank and quarter tank, both in km and miles. It also shows the vehicle type and fuel consumption category so you can verify the inputs are realistic.
Vehicle type comparison - tank, consumption and range
The table below covers eight common vehicle categories with typical tank sizes, average consumption and the resulting full-tank range.
| Vehicle type | Tank (L) | Consumption (L/100km) | Full-tank range (km) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact petrol (e.g. VW Golf, Toyota Corolla) | 50 | 6.5 | 769 |
| Compact diesel (e.g. VW Golf TDI, BMW 316d) | 50 | 4.8 | 1,042 |
| Family sedan petrol (e.g. Toyota Camry, Skoda Octavia) | 60 | 7.5 | 800 |
| Mid-size SUV petrol (e.g. Toyota RAV4, VW Tiguan) | 60 | 9.0 | 667 |
| Full hybrid (e.g. Toyota Prius, Hyundai Ioniq) | 43 | 4.0 | 1,075 |
| Large SUV diesel (e.g. BMW X5, Mercedes GLE) | 80 | 7.5 | 1,067 |
| Motorcycle (e.g. Honda CB500, Kawasaki Z650) | 17 | 4.5 | 378 |
| Sports car (e.g. Porsche 911, BMW M3) | 64 | 13.0 | 492 |
